Urban Trees, The Key To A Healthy Community

  • November 15, 2016
  • 7:15 PM
  • Church Of The Brethren, 337 North Carolina Ave SE, Washington, D. C. 20002

Featured Speaker:  Suraj K. Sazawal, Policy Advocate at Casey Trees.

This month, Casey Trees will talk to us about urban trees, why they are the key to a healthy community, and how to plant the right tree in the right spot.

Think about this:  Based on the current size of D.C.’s canopy, the city needs to add 2,031 acres of canopy to reach the 40 percent goal. Assuming an annual mortality rate of 6 percent and using the rate of 100 trees per 1 acre, 216,300 total new trees must be planted over the next two decades. That amounts to 8,600 trees per year.

Please Note Change of Date!

Owing to the election, our November meeting will be held one week later, on

Tuesday the 15th of November.
